Turbulences of the world: the present in sacred art

The collective exhibition The Turbulence of the World in the Advent Season brings to the intimate space of the Tabačko gallery a relatively broad view of figurality within contemporary sacred art. The group exhibition combines works created for church (mostly Catholic) spaces with the free work of artists touching sacred motifs “from the outside”. The project loosely follows on from several exhibition projects from recent years, which dealt with a wide range of manifestations of contemporary sacred art (for example, SACRELACRUM / SACRAL ELEMENTUM in the Gallery of Spiš Artists). The title of the exhibition is taken from the opera Don Carlos by Giuseppe Verdi, in which the figure of the monk reminds us that the turbulence of the world persists even in the temple and in holy places – peace cannot be found anywhere else but in heaven. Authors of the exhibition: Nikolas Bernáth, András Cséfalvay, Tomáš Halík, Dorota Sadovská, Boris Vaitovič Curator and visual: Samuel Velebný Production: Dominika Moravčíková, Filip Kakara Duration of the exhibition: 19.12.2022 – 30.1.2023 Admission: free / Tabačka Gallery The event was supported from public funds by the Art Support Fund.
